Kathryn Downing

Kathryn Louise ?Kate? Downing, 82, died at 4:05 p.m. August 28, 2008, at Lima Manor Nursing Home. She was born March 19, 1926, in Auglaize Township, Ohio to Stanley and Vesta Plummer Shaw, who preceded her in death. On December 23, 1945, she married Charles Albert Downing, who died Jananuary 12, 2005. Mrs. Downing was a homemaker. She was a member of Lima Baptist Temple. She was a volunteer at Columbia Nursing Home for 20 years. She was an angel to her family and friends. She was a strong Christian who loved her husband, children, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and many friends. She loved going to church and will be missed by many. Survivors include a son, Mike ?Mick? Downing, of Lima, Ohio; four daughters, Diana (Tim) Miller and Sandy (Greg) Frazee, both of Lima, Ohio, Pat (Don) Kleman, of Florence, Kentucky, and Mary (Jerry) Goodwin, of Lima, Ohio; four sisters, Helen White, of Arkansas, and Dorothy (Jim) Fedele, Ann Good, and Shirley (Arley) Taylor, all of Lima, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers in-law, Ray Moneer and Joe Baber; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Shaw and Alice Shaw. She was preceded in death by two sons, William Dowing, who died in July 2008, and Charles Downing; three sisters, Ruth (Cody) Spencer, Jean Moneer and Donna Baber; two brothers, Pau Shawl and Myron Shaw; and two brothers-in-law, Al Good and Russ White. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Gary Hohman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida, Ohio. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lima Baptist Temple.
