Kenneth E. ?Kenny? Gilbert, 75, died at 11:30 p.m. April 21, 2010, at his residence. He was born April 26, 1934, in Olive Hill, Kentucky to Leonard and Marie Back Gilbert Sr., who preceded him in death. On September 2, 1955, in Acme, W.Virginia, he married Janet Wood, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Gilbert was liked by everyone who knew him. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. He loved to golf and bowl. He was a deacon at Lima Deliverance Tabernacle. He retired in 1991 as a welder from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Survivors also include four sons, Mike Gilbert, of Lima, Ohio, Don (Stacie) Gilbert, of Michigan, and Ron (Patty) Gilbert and William Gilbert, both of Lima, Ohio; a daughter, Princess (Chad) Via, of Lima, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Donny (Mindy) Gilbert, Jennifer (Damon) Boothby, Jodi (Jason) Sheets, Tyler Fowler, Haylee Fowler, Thomas Keller, Brandon Gilbert and Robert ?Bo? Gilbert; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elsie (William) Turpin, of Louisiana, and Delores (Edward) Meitz, of Virginia. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Gilbert, Jr. and infant Lonnie Gilbert. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Dean Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
