Kermit Graessle

Kermit D. Graessle, 90, died at 9 a.m. August 23, 2008. He was born February 20, 1918, in Auglaize County, Ohio to Phillip and Lorena Zimmerman Graessle, who preceded him in death. On January 1, 1949, he married Ruth Hall, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Graessle had been owner and operator of Lima Plumbing & Heating and had retired from Gast Plumbing after four years. He was a member of Oasis Church. He was a member of Lima Memorial Health System Auxiliary and Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54. He was a 1936 graduate of Buckland High School, Buckland. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. Survivors also include a son, David Graessle, of Dublin, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Roberta Graessle, of Antioch, California; three grandchildren, Dawn R. Shuman, Lauren E. Graessle and Jimmy Graessle; and two step grandchildren, Lori Lawing and Bridget Rubia. He was preceded in death by a son, James Graessle; a grandchild, Christopher J. Graessle; three sisters, May Graessle, Lela Place and Edna Ramga; and six brothers, Howard Graessle, Carl Graessle, Robert Graessle, Lowell Graessle, Andrew Graessle and Frederick Graessle. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor James M. Oates will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lima Memorial Health System or the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.
