Koewler "Dutch" Brafford, 90 of Lima, Ohio died on Friday, March 30, 2012, at Lima Convalescent Home .
He was born July 23, 1921 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late Osmer Brafford and the late Hertha Koewler Brafford. He married Irene J. Muzleski in Lima on September 4, 1945 and she died on January 13, 2004.
Mr. Brafford was owner and operator of Brafford's Garage. A World War II Veteran, Dutch served in United States Army as a mechanic and ambulance driver. He partcipated in D-Day invasion of Normandy Beach. His unit participated in freeing the prisoners at Buchenwald concentration camp. Dutch was an avid pilot. He was a member of the EAA (Experimental Aviation Assoc.) and Cessna 120-140 Club International. Dutch loved flying his Cessna 140 that he owned for 63 years. He was also a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
Surviving are: a son, Carey Brafford of Las Vegas, NV, a daughter Kathy (James Johnsman) Brafford of Lima, OH. and also three grandchildren Andrew (Monica) Hubbard, Angela (Brian) Gottfried and Jennifer Hole, two great-grandchildren; Andrew Harry Hubbard and Brayden Koewler Hubbard.
He was preceded in death by an Infant son, two brothers, Harry Brafford and Richard Brafford,and a sister, Jeanette Brafford Cahall, Daughter-in-law: Patricia Brafford.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home,
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Father David Ross officiating.
Burial at Gethsemani Cemetery with a Military Graveside Service conducted by VFW Post 1275.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns Catholic Church.
