Kristine Ann

September 21, 1942 — September 21, 2011

Kristine Ann Mak, 69, of Bluffton, S.C., formerly of Lima, died Sept. 21, 2011, at her son's residence in Columbus.
She was born May 26, 1942, in Fostoria to Raymond and Rosalie Walker, who preceded her in death. She married Dr. Kin Yee "Ken" Mak, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Mak's life, while cut short, had not a moment wasted. Her childhood was spent in Mentor, where she was a graduate of Mentor High School. In 1963, she graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Cleveland, where she met her husband. They then settled in Lima in 1965, where they raised four children. In 1995, they retired to Bluffton, S.C. Her genuine warmth and goodness enhanced the lives of many. She was a member of the Lima Medical Auxiliary, a docent at the Allen County Historical Museum, a member of the Lotus Club and a puppeteer with "The Kids on the Block" International Educational Puppet Troupe, all in Lima. She was a member of the Historical Society of Colleton River, the Lifelong Learning Programs, the Stephen Ministries at Low Country Presbyterian Church and a docent for the Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge, all in Bluffton, S.C. She was an avid reader, antique collector and gentle watercolor painter. She was a revered canasta opponent, but most of all, she was a much loved daughter, sister, wife, mother, mentor and friend. She received an immense amount of love and support from her community in Bluffton, S.C.
Survivors include a sister, Saundra (Jim) Manninen; four children, Thom (Deb) Mak, Jennifer (Roger) Culbertson, Linda Mak (Tiy) Chung and David (Cecily) Mak; eight grandchildren, Felix and Zoe Mak, Chase and Taylor Culbertson, Evi and Tao Chung, and Xander and Tenzin Mak.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Walker.
Memorial services will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima. A second service will be held at a later date at Low Country Presbyterian Church in Bluffton, S.C.
