Geneva L. "Gene" Nesbitt,
92, of Elida, Ohio died on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at 7:25 P.M. at Otterbein Nursing Home - Cridersville in Cridersville, Ohio.

Born Friday, August 1, 1919 in Bluffton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Henry Leonhard and the late Carrie (Koch) Leonhard and lived most of her childhood in Ft. Recovery, Ohio.

Gene graduated from Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1940. Her career in nursing spanned 35 years mostly in the private duty sector. Gene and Robert H. Nesbitt were married on April 25, 1942 and celebrated 61 years of marriage in 2003 before Bob's death. She practiced nursing during the years Bob was overseas in WWII and after the war when they lived in Lima and Dayton (1953-1975). In 1975 they returned to the Lima area.

Gene moved to Otterbein Independent Living in 2004 and enjoyed many years socializing and playing bridge there. She was a lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Lima and its Ruth Circle. She was a member of the Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Ohio Nursing Assoc.

Surviving are: two sons, William (Beverly) Nesbitt of Lima, OH and Carl L. (Michele) Nesbitt of Colorado Springs, Colorado; ten grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister Florence Honn who died in 1998.

A memorial service will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 28, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. David Harris officiating.

Burial of ashes will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
