Lady Alice Hurd,

89, passed away at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at Deceased's Residence in Lima.

Lady Alice was born on Sunday, December 13, 1925, in Lima, to the late Arnold Edward and Frances Marie (Howard) Cooper. On Saturday, March 17, 1951, she married Clinton Hurd Jr., who preceded her in death on January 13, 2009.

Lady Alice was a member of the ABWA (American Business Women of America) and West Side Methodist Church where she served on the church council. She worked for many years in retail sales as a department manager. She was awarded the certificate of acknowledgement thru the "Boy's Club of America", (Omaha, Nebraska) and the recipient of the Commanders Club award for disabled American Veterans. She had been active with 'Council on Aging for many years and represented the city of Lima as "Beanie." Lady Alice was a tutor for the Allen County Literacy Council for many years. She donated many handmade crafts to St. Rita's newborns.

Attending anything that her children and grandchildren were involved with was a love of hers. She was very artistic: crocheting, knitting, needlepoint and sewing. She loved doing crossword puzzles, studying history and especially family Ancestry. One of her many loves was traveling.

She is survived by: son, Gerald F. (Beverly) Beining Hurd, Bremerton, WA; daughters, Lynne M. Hurd, Lima, OH and Lenise D. (Thomas, Sr.) Hurd Terry, Lima, OH; grandchildren, Erica L. Hurd, Lima, OH, Guy "Joey" Hurd, Ft. Worth, TX, Monjula T. Crisp, Columbus, OH, April D. Hurd, Anchorage, AK, LaShonda R. Terry, Lithonia, GA, Theresa M. Crisp, Lima, OH, Terrelle F. Terry, Sr., Lima, OH, Ashley K. Hurd, Bremerton, WA, Marisa A. (Brian) (Hurd) Caughlan, Olympia, WA; twenty-seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and daughter-in-laws, Cathy Hurd, Horton, MI and Vera Frieson Hurd, Columbus, OH.

She is preceded in death by: son, Guy "Larry" Hurd; grandchild, Thomas F. Terry, Jr.; great grandchildren, Thomas F. Terry, III and NyKayhla J. Terry; stepfather, Clarence Haithcock; grandmother, Minnie Howard and uncle, Guy R. Howard; And much thanks and love to Clinton Hurd, Jr.'s family living and deceased.


The family will receive friends Monday, November 16, 2015 from 2 to 8 P.M. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A funeral service will begin at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. Pastor Bill Kronk will officiate.
