Larry West

Larry E. West, 67, of Lima, died at 3:52 p.m. Oct. 5, 2007, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born Nov. 22, 1939, in Kenton to James Howard and Vanetta Brown West, who preceded him in death. He married Phyllis Godsey on May 18, 1963, in Lima, and she survives. Mr. West retired after 39 years at Meritor, formerly Rockwell Manufacturing in Kenton. He was a machine operator. He was also a member of the Riverside North Neighborhood Association, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Kenton and AMVETS in Kenton. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch spending time with his grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Navy. Survivors also include two sons, Thomas G. Godsey, of Lima, and Michael David (Tracy) West, of South Euclid; two daughters, Debbie Clark, of Lima, and Dionne West, of Lima; a brother, Warren (Betty) West, of Chino, Calif.; two sisters, Donna Van Tassell, of Gardena, Calif., and Saundra (Lou) Franks, of Perris, Calif.; and six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, Jimmy West, preceded him in death. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Evangelist John Barcus and Bishop Jessie Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank workers in the fourth floor Heart Unit at St. Rita's Medical Center for their care and concern. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
