Laura Marie "Laurie" Fay, 46, died at 11:26 AM on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
Laura was born on April 14, 1974, in Lima, Ohio, to David Wright Fay and Kathleen Ann "Kathy" (McGreevy) Fay who survive in Lima.
Laura's family was the center of her world. When she was 3 years old, she met Ruby Clark, who became a lifelong friend. At age 42 she met Tracy Harris, who saved Laurie's life by donating her kidney to Laurie. Laura attended and graduated from Marimor School in 1996. She worked a short time at the workshop and then participated in the Easter Seals Day Program. After that she went to RMS day program. Laurie participated in Special Olympics for many years. Proms at Marimor were a favorite of hers. She loved getting dressed up. She made an impact on the lives of each and every person she met in life. It was impossible not to love her. Ohio State University held a special place in her heart -- Go Bucks. In honor of Laura’s love of the Buckeyes, the family asks that everyone attending the viewing dress comfortably in their favorite Ohio State attire.
She is also survived by, three brothers: Daniel (Bobby Jo) Fay, of Elida, OH, Douglas (Deanna) Fay, of Lima, OH and Christopher (Paige) Fay, of Lima, OH; nineteen nephews and nieces: Tyler Fay, Ashley Fay, Carlos Briggs, Kelya Briggs, Will Doyle, Xavier Doyle, Keegan Fay, Ireland Fay, Carter Fay, Lillian Fay, Branson Bowerman, Zane Bowerman, Allie Bowerman, Maddie Bowerman, Addison Fay, Emily Fay, Liam Fay, Gabrielle Fay and Kilian Fay; four great nieces and nephew: Ariana Briggs, Kaliyah, Karter and J.J. Luckett; very special friend, Ruby Clark; aunt & uncle, Sue & Terry Luczck; and uncle, Steve Fay.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Paul E. and Virginia Fay; maternal grandparents, Paul T. and Victoria McGreevy; and aunt, Virginia J. “Ginny” Gallenz.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5th at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio, followed by a Parish Wake at 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6th at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lima, OH. Father Mike Sergi will officiate. Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
The funeral mass will be live-streamed via the St. Gerard website.
