Lauren S. Oberdier, 85, passed away at 9:17 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at McLaren St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, OH.
Lauren was born on June 20, 1936, in Lafayette, Ohio, to the late Walter and Blanche (Driver) Oberdier. On December 26, 1957 he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy (Workman) Oberdier.
Lauren was a graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School and served in the Army Corp of Engineers from 1956 – 1958. He worked for Teledyne Ohio Steel in Lima as a foundry patternmaker and retired from Dayton Pattern Inc. He was a long-time member of the Patternmakers Union and Forest Park United Methodist Church. Lauren was a master carpenter who trained through the guild system and enjoyed woodworking, classical music, and Ohio State football.
He is survived by his wife Nancy of Perrysburg; daughter, Kristin (Joshua) Hauser of Cookeville, TN; son, Andrew (Heather Tessler) Oberdier of Toledo; grandson, Samuel Hauser of Cookeville, TN; sister, Carole Shaffer of Lima; and multiple nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Forest Park United Methodist Church at 315 S. Collins Avenue in Lima. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Pastor Teresa Wenrick will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Forest Park United Methodist Church, Lima, OH.
