Lawrence Virgil Rhoad, 81, of Lima, Ohio, died at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Paulding County Hospital, in Paulding, Ohio.
Born on Tuesday, January 27, 1931 in Latty, Ohio, he was the son of the late LeRoy "Roy" Rhoad and the late Rosa Marie (Boroff) Rhoad. He married Barb J. Lytle and she survives in Lima.
He worked for Landmark/Country Mark and later did deliveries for Don Johnson Florists.
He served in the Air Force from 1951 until 1955, and was a veteran of Korea. He was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the Ohio State Buckeyes and watching his grandchildren at their school activities.
Surviving is a son, Terry Lee "Dusty" (Sue) Rhoad of Sarasota, FL. Seven grandchildren; Robert (Nicole) Rhoad, Jillian R. Rhoad , Kyle Lynn Rhoad, Jonathon Douglas Rhoad, Carla Sue (Matt) Moran, Andrew Lawrence Rhoad and Amanda Lynne Rhoad. A great grandchild, Timothy Alan Rhoad, two sisters, Helen Marie Stoller, and Kathryn Louise "Katie" Clemens.
He was preceded in death by: a son, Gregory Lynn Rhoad; and two sisters, Priscilla Della Schwartz and Emma Grace Zielke and a step grand-daughter, Kimberly Ann Eddy.
Friends may call Monday, July 9, 2012 from 4-8 pm at the Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 10 am, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Benjamin will officiate.
Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Westminster, OH.
