LENORA KATHERINE WILLIAMS, 92, died peacefully in her sleep at 12:20 a.m. April 21, 2007, at Lima Convalescent Home. She was born January 2, 1915, in Montra, Ohio to Frank and Lulu Faler Snavley, who preceded her in death. On July 30, 1940, in Wapakoneta, she married Virgil E. Williams, who died July 3, 1980. Mrs. Williams worked for more than 30 years as a hospital nurse and later as a private duty nurse. She was a life member of Cable Road Alliance Church. She had served as president of St. Rita's Alumni Association and was a dedicated volunteer at the Red Cross Blood Center, the Senior Citizens Center, with the Lima Public School Parent-Teacher Associations, the Lima Senior High Boosters and the Girl and Boy Scouts of America. She was a graduate of Jackson Center High School and received her registered nurse's degree in 1936 from St. Rita's School of Nursing. She will be remembered not only for her kindness as a nurse, but also for her thoughtfulness and generosity to her family, friends and neighbors. She was a woman of great faith, whose spiritual commitment was also evident in her service to the community. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jean (Lynn) Whitney, of Littleton, Colorado, and Ruth Anne Channell, of Milwaukee; two sons, Ken (Hannah) Williams, of Greenwood, Indiana, and Tom (Mary) Williams, of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Mark Channell, of Berkeley, California, Rochelle (Gregor) Layman, of Lake Jackson, Texas, John (Sue) Whitney, of Durango, Colorado, Bridget (Thom) Golden, of Nashville, Tenn., Christina Williams, of Dayton, Ohio, Katie Ann Williams, of Wheaton, Ill., and Chase Williams, of Columbus, Ohio; six great-grandchildren, Jessica Layman, Scott Layman, Christopher Layman, Mariah Whitney, Tara Whitney and Andrew Golden; two brothers, Wayne "Pete" (Marge) Snavley, of Sidney, Ohio, and Paul "Mike" (Jerri) Snavley, of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister, Doris (Ned) Schurr, of Speedway, Indiana; four sisters-in-law, Evelyn Snavley and Em Snavley, both of Sidney, Ohio, Dolly Snavley, of Dayton, Ohio, and Janet Snavley Schoonover, of Lima, Ohio; and a devoted niece, Susan Quinn Ricker, of Lima, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Snavley Quinn; and six brothers, Irvin "Buddy," Snavley, Homer "Whitey," Snavley. Everett "Jake," Snavley, Ralph "Sam," Snavley, Dwight "Tubby,"Snavley and John Snavley. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Ron Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
