Leon Meyer

Leon L. ?Skip? Meyer, 76, died at 5:45 p.m. January 10, 2009, at St. Rita?s Medical Center, Lima, Ohio. He was born August 20, 1932, in Wabash, Ohio to Orland and Mary Fetters Meyer, who preceded him in death. On July 31, 1987, he married Barbara Knipe, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Meyer retired in 1991 after 32 years with Lima State Hospital Correctional Facility. He was a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He loved fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his family. Survivors also include three sons, Steve Meyer, of Stockport, Mike (Bill Lemberger) Meyer, of Ortonville, Michigan, and Gordon (Jackie) Meyer, of Vaughnsville, Ohio; a stepson, Timothy (Angie) Jacobs, of Lima, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Cheryl (Larry) Bowers, of Covington, Georgia; A step daughter-in-law-Kim Jones; a sister, Marilyn (William) Suever, of Wolcottville, Indiana; five grandchildren, Haedon Meyer, Brandon (Mary) Meyer, Andrew Meyer, Kari (Derek) Stober, and Christa Meyer; Ten step grandchildren, Larry Bowers, Gary Bowers, George Meeks, Shawn Meeks, Hope Meeks, Brandy (David) Sellers, Jessica Jacobs, Sue Ann Jacobs, Megan Jacobs, and Stphen Jacabs, Jr.; two great-grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren; First wife-Betty (Fencher) Dohse. He was preceded in death by two stepsons, Rick Jacobs and Steven Jacobs; and a stepdaughter, Linda Jacobs. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. John Perkins will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
