Leonard Frederick Thompson,
90 of Lima, Ohio died on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio in Lima, Ohio.
Born Tuesday, January 4, 1921 in Waynesfield, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clarence Thompson and the late Esta Hattery Thompson. He was the husband of the late Jean McConehey Thompson.
He served as a P.F.C. in the Army from 1942 until 1945. He was a Veteran of World War II.
Member of First Evangelical & Reformed Church. Self employed painter who did both indoor and outdoor painting. In the Army Engineers during World War II serving in the South Pacific. Avid supporter of the Lima Rescue Mission. Attended Senior Citizens. Served lunch at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. Enjoyed playing shuffle board.
Surviving are brother, Robert (Marge) Thompson of Powell, OH, sister, Hazel (Thompson) Smith. Six nieces, Darene (Gordon) Coates, Maxine (Ralph) Buttruff, Mary Jane Veitch, Pam Chaffin, Lori Johnson, Sue Musto, and Five Nephews, John (Rita) Bowers, Jack & (Jackie)Woods,II. Jeffery Thompson, Steve (Cathie) Thompson, Barry Flack.
He was predeceased by brother, Jack Thompson, sisters, Ruby (Thompson) Bowers, Clarine (Thompson) Crawford and, three nieces, Karen Hitchcock, Michelle Parker, Marsha Flack, Three nephews, Jack Thompson, James Woods, and Robert Flack.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Pastor Edward Rinehart officiating. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Waynesfield, OH.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Memorial fund can be sent to Lima Rescue Mission
