Leota May Bowers 84, died at 2:45 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. She was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Lima to Alva and Mabel Fowler Curl, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 19, 1939, she married Homer C. Bowers, who died May 24, 2005. Mrs. Bowers was a homemaker. She had been a member of First Mennonite Church. She had been a volunteer at Columbia Nursing Home and did voter registration with the election board. Survivors include three sons, Gary (Alice) Bowers, of Virginia Beach, Va., Dennis (Bonnita) Bowers, of Newark, and David (Carol) Bowers, of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Karen (Richard) Emerick, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Joanne (Jamey) Truex, of Harrod; a sister, Gloria (Don) Bowers, of Elida; a brother, Carl Curl, of Lima; and 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold ?John?, William and Lester Curl; and a sister, Annis Place. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Restoration Chapel on the corner of Eureka Street and Orena Avenue. The Rev. Terry Ayers will officiate. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
