Linda Sue Davis

Linda Sue Davis, 84, passed away peacefully at 6:58 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, with her husband and daughters by her side.

Linda was born on August 23, 1937 in Lima, Ohio, to Layton and Dorothy (Ageter) Place.  She grew up in Spencerville and graduated from Spencerville High School in 1955.  She went to Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated with her RN in 1958.  On June 21, 1958 she married Ronald Lee Davis, who survives in Lima.

Linda had been a nurse at Lima Memorial Hospital for 40 years before retiring.  The majority of her time there, she worked in the Orthopedic Department.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lima and a member of it’s United Methodist Women.  Linda was also a member of the YMCA, the Daughter’s of the American Revolution, and Lima Memorial Nurses Alumni Association.  She was actively involved in “Silver Sneakers” and Body Recall.

Linda was a wonderful homemaker who took great pride in her home and serving her friends and family.  She loved caring for her grandchildren as they were growing up.  She had the gift of hospitality.  She also loved traveling and was an avid antique collector.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Danette (Robert) LaFollette of Westerville, OH and Cyndi (Jeff) Sprague of Bluffton; grandchildren: Andrew (Lauren) LaFollette, Ashley LaFollette, Abbey (Oliver) Horvath, Wesley (Abby) Sprague, Colin (Amanda) Sprague, and Ryan (Sandi) Sprague; and great-grandchildren: Olton Horvath, Avery LaFollette, Macey LaFollette, Parker Sprague, Carson Sprague, Easton Sprague, Beck Sprague, Branch Sprague, and Holden Sprague.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David (Lila) Place; and an infant sister.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022 and 9 – 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at the funeral home.  Rev. Megan Croy will officiate.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Lima or Putnam County Hospice.
