Linda Ann Barnes Cannella
66, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Tri Star Skyline Hospital in
Nashville, TN, with her husband by her side.
Linda was born February 7, 1952 at Queen Charlottes Hospital in England to George and Ivy
(Harper) Barnes. On November 11, 1978, Linda married Sergeant First Class Matthew
Cannella, United States Army, and recently celebrated 40 years of marriage.
Linda never met a stranger and had family and friends across the world. Linda retired after 25
years with Time Warner Cable. During retirement she chose to babysit that brought her so much
joy. Linda had a passion for helping people and left a piece of herself with everyone she came
across. She recently traveled to England for a month to visit her brother and friends and had the
best time retelling stories of her trip every chance she got.
Linda loved NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon! She was also a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and
The Ohio State Buckeyes. In her free time Linda enjoyed shopping and spending time with
family. She was always only a phone call away.
Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her husband Matthew, her children a son, Don
(Missy) Cannella, a daughter, Helen (Kris) Brookman and grandchildren Jaylen, Madisyn,
Rayven, Rielynne, Demetrius, Ajdeyontaye, Aedeyon and Katelyn, her brother and best friend
David Barnes, her “other” son Elias (Jamie) Staup and many others who will all keep Linda’s
memory alive forever.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother.
“There are some that bring a light so great to this world, that even after they have gone… it
remains.”
