LINWOOD J. "DUTCH" BURKHOLDER, 97, died at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Springview Manor Nursing Home. He was born on march 28, 1910, in New Market, VA, to Abram and Edna Higgs Burkholder, woh preceded her in death. On July 1, 1933, he married Nellie V. Burkholder who died Dec. 4, 1997. Mr. Burkholder was an electrical assembler on school buses at Superior Coach for 37 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for more than 70 years, where he was very active. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 711 and the UAW 711 Retirees. He was a member of the board of directors at Pilgrim Place since it started. He played Santa Clause for more than 50 years. Survivors include a son, Ronald (Norma) Burkholder, of Lima; three grandchildren, Michael (Kay) Burkholder, of Ottawa, Terry (Diane) Burkholder, of Toledo, and Todd (Annette) Burkholder of Lima; five great-grandchildren, Matthew Burkholder, Jodi Burkholder, Brandon Burkholder,, Dylan Burkholder and Tyler Burkholder. He was preceded in death by a daughter; Imogene Holden; four brothers, Clarence, Claude, Ralph and Frank Burkholder; and two sisters, Pearl Shrider and Maxine Gonya. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Charlotte Hefner will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 23 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Phi Beta Psi Sorority for cancer research.
