Loren Dean Fruchey, 81, died at 8:39 p.m. March 9, 2008, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. He was born October 2, 1926, in Columbus Grove, Ohio to Clifford and Marie Cook Fruchey, who preceded him in death. On July 31, 1958, in Angola, Indiana, he married Helen Lyons, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Fruchey retired from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant, and had been a salesman at Clark Ford-Mercury, Wapakoneta. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 and American Legion Post 96. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. He was a Marine Corps veteran serving from January 10, 1945, to November 22, 1946. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Patricia Burr, of Lima, Ohio; a grandson, Bruce (Lori) Burr, of Springfield, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Ruth Green. He was preceded in death by a stepson, David Burr; two brothers, Dale and Emerson Fruchey; and a sister, Martha Benroth. Services will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Howard Allison will officiate. A private burial will be held at a later date in Shawnee Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 p.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
