Louise M. Ruth, 93 of Lima, Ohio died 6:30 P.M. Friday, January 4, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born Saturday, January 11, 1919 in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late William Steele and Alta (Stalter ) Steele. She was the married to Aaron L. "Bud" Ruth who died July 31, 1983.
She had served in the Navy during WW II. as secretary to Admiral Bowen. Louise retired from the City of Lima Fire Department as the secretary to the Chief (Chief Kersee and Chief John Brookman). She was a member of the Church of the Holy Nativity and it's St. Helena's Guild. Also a member of the Westgate Neighborhood Association, PERI-Public Employee Retirees, Inc., and the I.A.F.F. Local #334.
Surviving are three daughters; Jill (Bill) Halker of Lima, Susan (Dick) Cassaro of Burnsville, MN and Chris (Brad Longstreth) Shaw of Mendon, Also surviving are seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, also three nephews and one niece.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John "Jack" Steele, and a sister, Doris Jean Kemmer.
Visitation will be Monday, January 7, 2013 2:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A. Tuesday, January 7, 2013 at the Church of the Holy Nativity, 2945 North Cole Street, Lima with the Right Reverend Robert Todd Giffin officiating.
Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Graveside military honors conducted by VFW 1275.
