Loy E. "Gene" Keller
84, died at 4:00 PM on Monday, September 21, 2015, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
Loy was born on July 29, 1931, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Loy D. Keller and Bertha L. (Groves) Keller.
Gene married Roslyn Rhodes on October 23, 1955. She survives in Lima. He was a draftsman for Superior Coach/Sheller-Globe, North American Phillips in Van Wert, and then retired from Accubult in 1996. He was a 1949 graduate of Lima South High. He then joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Hector AR7, for four years in the Pacific during the Korean War. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #370, and a life member of the Elks Lodge #54. He was an avid golfer at the Oaks, bowled in the Elks league for 28 years, and enjoyed playing cards with his cronies.
He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law Betty (David) Bowers, of Lima, OH; two special nephews, Andrew (Angi) Bowers and Christopher (Christina) Bowers and two special great nephews, Jackson Keller Bowers and Joseph Bowers and a special great niece Davalyn Bowers, and many other nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Rev. Wanda Werking will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Ada, Ohio.
