Lu Ann Armstrong, 55, died at 5 a.m. August 28, 2010, at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 15, 1954, in Lima, Ohio to Russell and Evelyn Leppla Armstrong, who preceded her in death. Ms. Armstrong loved animals and outdoor activities on the lake and playing tennis. She had many friends and rarely knew a stranger. She was a certified public accountant and chief financial officer for more than 35 years with Vanamatic Inc. in Delphos. She graduated from Elida High School in 1973 and Bluffton University in 1982. Survivors include two sisters, Kathy (Larry) Williams, of Elida, Ohio, and Wilma Nagel, of Waynesville, Ohio; two brothers, Ronald (Stephanie) Armstrong, of Elkhart, Texas, and Bob (Leola) Armstrong, of Spartanburg, S.C.; two aunts, Leola (Bob) Armstrong, of Spartanburg, S.C., and Betty Leppla, of Lima, Ohio.; eight nieces and nephews, Ruth Ann, Ron, Dawn, Alan, Karen, Brandon,. Ashleigh and Haley, seven great-nieces and great-nephews; a boyfriend, Tom Horstman; and special friend, Sharon Cole. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Armstrong. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Creation Lutheran Church. Pastor Samuel Payne will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
