Lyman E. "Ed" Squires, 84, died at approximately 11pm on February 14, 2017 at Lima Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary F. Logsdon Squires, Lima, Sons; Steve (Janeen) Barrett, Phelan, CA , Jim (Tracie) Barrett, Mapleton, UT, daughters; Karen Czirban, Lindon, UT, Terri (Charles) Henson, Ft Wayne, IN and Debi Williams, Lima. He has 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Joy (Robert) Rosenberger, Boliver, OH.
Ed was a Korean War Army Veteran serving from Sep 1950 until Jun 1952. He received the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), Korean Service Medal w/1 bronze silver star, the United Nations Service Medal and Combat Infantry badge SO 113 HQ 224th Inf. Ed was retired from HMH Surveyors in San Jose, CA and had also worked for CALTRANs in CA. Ed was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion Post 0096, Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club, Honorary Member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America and supporter of numerous other charitable organizations. He was also an avid book reader, gardener and sports fan.
The family will have a private service at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3000 Harding Hwy, Lima, OH on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers please send donations to your choice of charitable organizations.
