Lynn A. Harrod, 67 of Lima, died at 4:10 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
Lynn was born on September 5, 1946 in Waynesfield, OH to the late Cleo D. Harrod and Delores [Newland] Harrod. In December 1966 he married Sue M. Thompson, who survives in Lima.
He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His hobbies included go-carting, racing, motor cycle riding, fishing and bingo. He still holds the track go-cart racing record in Harrod, OH. He took great pride in helping his very good friends Mike and Bonnie Melvin with the St. Jude's Christmas for kids. He was a Life member and officer of AMVETS Post #1, Life Member of VFW Post #1275 and Member of American Legion Post #96.
He is survived by a son - Rod Harrod of Florida, Daughter - Tracey (Robert) Howard of Lima, OH, Daughter - Stacey (Rick) DeWitt, of Lima, OH, Daughter - Melissa Loar, of Lima, OH, Son - Tony (Brenda) Loar of Lima, OH, Son - Joe Harrod of Lima, OH, Son - Tim (Mae) Harrod, of Lima, OH, Daughter - Missy (Joe) Hittle of Lima, OH, Daughter - Tammy (Carl) Gould of Lima, OH, Thirty-six Grandchildren, four of which he helped raise: Sarah, Madison, William and Brandon, and Forty-six Great Grandchildren, Special Daughter-in-law - Shirley J. Evans, Brother - Gary (Angie) Harrod, of GA, Sister - Linda (Dean) Cooksey of TX, and several Nieces & Nephews.
He was preceded in death by - Grandson - Alexander Thompson, Granddaughter - Lisa Evans, Great Grandson - Derion DeWitt, Great Grandson - Jermia DeWitt, Brothers - Ronny and Robert Harrod, Sister-in-law - Charlotte Camper, Niece - Sharon Hershberger,

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, OH. Chaplin Dick Coon officiating. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post #1275, Lima.
Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Uniopolis, Ohio.
