M. June Metzger, 92, died at 1:25 a.m. Aug. 5, 2010, at Baton Rouge Senior Health Services Community. She was born June 30, 1918, in Auglaize County to Jesse E. and Maxie Chloe Reed Dixon, who preceded her in death. On June 22, 1942, she married Oral Melvin Metzger, who died Oct. 28, 1967. Mrs. Metzger was a graduate of Buckland High School, Buckland, and Fort Wayne Business College, Fort Wayne, Ind. She worked on the family farm and retired in 1982 as a bookkeeper from J.C. Penney Co. Inc., after 20 years. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Elida, where she was a volunteer. She was a member of the American Business Women?s Association and Jugs. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include three children, Mason (Marybeth) Metzger, JoAnne Bragg and Dennis (Kim) Metzger, all of Lima; a brother, Paul Wayne Dixon, of Akron; 10 grandchildren, Sarah (Pat) Hennesey, Mike (Amy) Metzger, David Metzger, Kim (Tim) Peachey, Karen (Mike) Raines, Jim (Jen) Polutnik, Becky (Mike) Ellinger, Julie (Travis) Bok, Cari Metzger and Lori (John) Meyer; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David D. Bragg; and a sister, Ruth Evelyn Murlin. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Ruth Solo will officiate. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
