M. Mozelle Saylor

Mabel Mozelle Saylor, at 107 years old, went to spend Christmas in Heaven on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Wyngate Senior Living Center. 

Mozelle was born on February 8, 1917, in Bloomdale, Ohio, to the late Merritt Irvin and Grace (Ripley) Baertsche. On June 1, 1941, she married her beloved Donald Saylor, who preceded her in death on February 22, 1992.

Mozelle graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1937 with a teaching certificate. She ran a Day Care out of her home for 40+ years. She worked the Cubbies Program at Lima Baptist Temple with 3 & 4 year olds, and was a founding member of Calvary Bible Church. She enjoyed watching baseball and local basketball, and loved dark chocolate. Mozelle lived a long life following God’s rules. Her life legacy was to be that person that showed you how great life is with Jesus Christ as your personal savior.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Lawrence) Sharp; son, Robert Saylor; grandchildren: Miriam Kelling, Lenora (Jeff) Herbst, Steve (Becky) Colgan, Rachel (Eric) Peery, Steve (Lisa) Sharp, Nathan Saylor and Beth (Frank) Miller; and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Colgan; son-in-law, Joe Colgan; daughter-in-law, Fay Saylor; brother, Robert Baertsche; and sister, Marean Howard. 

The family will receive friends from 4 – 8 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio and also from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Rev. Gary Hohman will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lima Baptist Temple in honor of Mozelle Saylor.
