Magdalene Beth Lyons,
Age 56, of Lima, died Monday March 7, 2016 at her residence. She was born October 30, 1959 in Warren, Ohio to the late Woodrow and Lorraine (Major) Lyons.
She was a former Portsmouth, Ohio native and a graduate of Portsmouth High School, class of 1977. She attended Rio Grande College before joining her brother Steve Lyons, PHS Class of 1976, in New York City, where she began a career that spaned almost twenty years as a lead make-up artist for some of the best makeup brands in the world.
In New York, she began as a "spritz girl" on the floor of Sak's Fifth Avenue, spraying cologne to drive sales, and within a few years had become a lead makeup artist, known throughout New York for her winning smile and makeup artistry. Her career included working at Sak's Lord & Taylor and Bergdorf Goodman. In 2005 she moved to Boston where she was the promotions manager and did double duty at Sak's Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.
She was more recently a resident of Lima, Ohio, where she moved to be closer to her family and friends. In Lima she had worked as a makeup artist for Macy's Department store and was well known by new and established clients. Taking early retirement due to health issues, she became actively involved in caretaking her great-nieces and nephews.
She is survived by siblings Jeff Lyons (and his wife Mary Lyons) and Rickey Lyons, of Lima, Ohio; and her brother Steve Lyons of Boston and Cape Cod, where she was a frequent visitor. Her eldest brother Gary Lyons preceded her in death in 2007. Additional survivors include nephews including TJ Lewallen and Matt Lyons (and wife Regina) of Lima, Ohio and Natasha (Lyons) Wright ( the wife of Cody Wright) of Georgia. She was actively involved in caretaking her great nieces and nephews, including Derek and Luke Lyons (children of Matt and Regina), and Skylar, Erica, Taylor and Joseph Lewallen (children of TJ Lewallen). Her nephew Eli Lyons Seiser is a resident of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She was much loved by extended family and both personal and church related friend, including Eva Andersson, Jeff Butler, Peter Demers, and Linda Bender.
Visitation will be at the Ralph Scott Funeral Home, in Portsmouth, OH. on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 4 to 8 P.M.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:30 A.M.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Portsmouth, Ohio.
