Margot Ann Keller,
76 of Lima, Ohio died on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio in Lima, Ohio.
Born Sunday, April 7, 1935 in Joliet, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Lester Shaski and the late Margaret Fraser Shaski. She was the wife of the late Robert Keller.
Margot graduated from The College of St. Francis in Joliet, IL in 1956 and received her Master's Degree in 1958 from Bowling Green State University. After graduating Margot moved to Lima and began a 50 + year career working. She was the first full-time speech therapist at St. Rita's Medical Center. Several years later she started her own speech and hearing clinic which she continued to the present. She had also worked for the Elida Schools, Rhodes State College as a child development instructor for 32 years and adjunct professor for the last two years, and she taught esophageal speech through The American Cancer Society. She enjoyed traveling over the world and writing articles for The Lima News. She visited over 30 countries and most of the 50 states. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and mentor to all of her family. She was a member of St. Gerard's Parish. She was a member and past president of Soroptimist International, member of the Ohio Speech Language Hearing Association, the Ohio Board of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology, and the Lifelong Learning Institute at The Ohio State University in Lima. She served on the Salvation Army Board, was a member and Past President of the Torch Club (whose motto is "Curse not the darkness but Light the torch"), was Co-Chair of the Christmas Tree Festival, President of the Friends of the Library, was a YWCA Board Member, and member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). She belonged to Krafty Kritters, Gourmet Group,Wednesday Night Supper Club, and the Mah Jongg Group for 35 years.
Surviving are son, Harold (Sarah) Keller of Johnstown, OH, daughters, Lenore (Robert) Bishop of Portage, MI, Suzette Ashworth of Fort Davis, TX, Barbara (Frank Mendoza) Moss of El Paso, TX, Denise Keller of Lima, OH and Margaret Keller of San Pedro, CA, brother, Robert Shaski of Chicago, IL. 10 grandchildren, Sacha Ashworth, John Moss, Kristi Moss, James Moss, Robert Keller, Rachel Estep, Benjamin Keller, Elizabeth Bishop, Shelby Bishop, Michael Bishop, and 4 great grandchildren, Austin Moss, Tyler Moss, Lilly Moss, Landon Estep.
A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday at Mass of Christian Burial @ St. Gerard Catholic Church with the Father James McDonald officiating. Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, OH.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, with a wake service at 8:00 P.M.
