Marguerite Eloise Long Dome

August 24, 1917 — March 3, 2017

Marguerite Eloise Long Dome died peacefully on March 3, 2017, in St. Rita's Hospice at the age of 99. Marguerite was born August 24, 1917, in Bluffton Ohio, to Glen and Gertrude Good Long. She graduated in 1935 from Bluffton High School.

Marguerite's father Glen bought the nut shop on the northwest side of the Lima Public Square between Rollins Furniture store and Jones' Hardware in 1938. When Glen died in 1950, Marguerite and her husband Dwight took over the store and changed the name to Dome's Nut Shop. There they shared childcare and running the shop from the 1950's to 1980's. In the 1960's the shop moved across the square to Main Street. The current Dome's Nut Shop is now owned by Marguerite's son, D. Glenn Dome.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Dwight E. Dome, in 2002, and by their infant daughter, Marilyn Kay, in 1944. She is survived by her daughter Donna Dome (Robert E.) Tait, Columbus; her son Kevin D. Dome (Marcy), Marion; and her son D. Glenn Dome (Vicki); granddaughters Heather Tait Virgilio (Jason), Jennifer Helen Tait Shookus (Jeffrey), and grandson, Robert Thorfin Tait (Lindsay), granddaughters, Tracy and Brenda Dome and 11 great grandchildren. Marguerite loved that one of her great granddaughters was named Riley Marguerite (Virgilio).

Following a private family service, Marguerite will be buried at Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton, next to her husband.

The family thanks the staff at Lochhaven apartments for their care in the past 7 years and the wonderful nurses at St. Rita's Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marguerite's memory to Westside United Methodist Church, Lima, where Marguerite was a member for more than 70 years; St. Joseph's Indian School, P.O.
