Maria A. Croft

Maria A. Simone Croft, 68, of Lima, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 2:04 p.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born on March 6, 1953 in Lima to Joseph and Amelita {Taviano} Simone. Her father survives in Lima. On October 27, 1984, she married Joseph Daniel Croft, who preceded her in death October 30, 2002.

Maria graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1971. She then graduated from Northwestern Business College in Lima in 1973 with an accounting degree. She worked in food service for 26 years for Lima City Schools, retiring in 2017. She also worked at WTGN radio station for 16 years, retiring in 2020. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, attending craft shows and yard sales. She lovingly was dedicated to her family and enjoyed spending many years with her father and taking care of everyone.

She is survived by her father, son: Joseph (Nicole Herr) Croft of Lima, daughter: Audra (Matthew) Croft-Keener of Newark, OH, sister: Anita (Rose) Simone of Fort Wayne, IN, grandchildren: Skylar Koontz of Lima, Joseph Jordan Croft of Cranberry Township, PA, and Kaysin Vermilyen of Kalida, OH, special pet: Sir Chubby the English Bulldog, grandpuppy: Stella the Boxer, and her dear friend and craft partner: Cathy Briggs.

In addition to her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister: Patsy (Morgan) Davies and infant brother: Joseph John Simone.

Her family will receive friends on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the funeral home. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
