Marian McFARLAND

MARIAN ELIZABETH McFARLAND, 91, died at 1:35 a.m. Sept. 7, 2006, at Lima Manor Nursing Home. She was born May 31, 1915, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ambrose Wickliffe and Marian Eleanor Poland Lowery, who preceded her in death. On July 8, 1944, she married Eugene Joseph McFarland. Mrs. McFarland taught at St. Charles, Lima Central Catholic and Lima City Schools. She was a member of St. Gerard's Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a graduate of Westminster Prep School and a 1938 graduate of the University of Utah. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret "Peggy" McFarland of Lima; two sons, John (Cathy) McFarland of Lima and Mike (Sheila) McFarland of South Bend, Ind.; a brother, Sidney W. Lowery of McLean, Va.; a sister-in-law Rosie McFarland of Fort Myers, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jason (Jenny) McFarland of Lima, James (Alane) McFarland of Dayton and Michael McFarland of South Bend, Ind.; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth McFarland and Kyle Michael McFarland. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ellen Lowery. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gerard's Catholic Church. Father George Blasick will officiate. The body has been donated to science. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gerard's School or Father Herr Scholarship Fund.
