Marie J. Murphy

Marie J. Murphy, 92, passed away at 7:55 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024, at The Meadows of Ottawa.

Marie was born on March 3, 1931, in Lima, Ohio, to August P. and Hazel L. (Selby) Cira.  On June 28, 1950, she married the love of her life, Thomas Murphy, who preceded her in death.

Marie had worked for the Allen County Clerk of Courts as a Deputy Clerk.  She was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lima and was part of their Alter Rosary Society.  She loved to go to Lincoln Park and listen to the music concerts.  She also enjoyed her chocolate milk shakes and chocolate filled sticks, as well as spending time with her family and her friends from the Meadows.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Richard) Brisson of Columbus Grove; son-in-law, Bob Polser of Lima; grandchildren: Belinda Cramer, Jarrod (Shannon) Polser, Chris (Alisha) Reed, Ian (Danielle) Sheeter, Carey Reed, and Robbie McClure; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Richard P. (Joyce) Cira of Lima; sister-in-law, Rose Fishbach; in-laws, Gerald (Gerry) Murphy and James Murphy; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Rebecca Ann Murphy, Debra Lynn Murphy and Kelleen Polser; son, Terrence Richard Murphy; and sister, Agatha R. ( Richard) Folk.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17,  2024, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio with a Rosary Prayer Service at 8 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at St. Gerard Catholic Church.  Father Mike Sergi will officiate.  Burial will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
