Marjorie Stitely

Marjorie Ann Stitely, 87, died at 1:35 p.m. Feb. 23, 2010, at Lima Manor Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 19, 1922, in Huntington County, Ind., to Lloyd Bernard and Catherine Esther Iry Hefner, who preceded her in death. On June 22, 1947, she married William Ray Stitely Jr., who died Aug. 13, 2009. Mrs. Stitely was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a member of Trinity Chapter Order of Eastern Star, where she was a past matron. She was a member of Buckeye Links, the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, the Allen county Retired Teachers Association and the AARP. She had served as state president of Alpha Delta Kappa International Sorority for Women Educators. She had been a teacher for 26 years teaching at Lima South Junior High School, Central Junior High School and West Junior High School. Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Jean (Rob) Aberte, of Palm Bay, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth A. Warren, of Elizabethtown, Pa. An OES service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church followed immediately by the memorial service. The Rev. Phyllis Fetzer will officiate. There will be no visitation.
