In Loving Memory of Mark Mayer

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mark Mayer, a devoted husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. Mark passed peacefully from this world and into the arms of Jesus on August 12, 2023, at 10:20 pm, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and memories that will be cherished.

Mark’s unwavering devotion to his faith was evident to all who knew him. He found rest and strength in his relationship with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. His selflessness for others and his dedication to his family created lasting and meaningful relationships.

Mark was a loving husband to Kim Mayer. Mark and Kim had similar interests and were rarely apart in their last few years together. As a father, Mark was strong, wise, and dependable. He leaves behind his beloved children Lindsay (Levi) Long, Gretchen (Simon) Yeh, Derek (Elizabeth) Mayer, Austin (Maggie) Mayer, Ryan Mayer, and Tyler Mayer. His role as a grandfather brought him immeasurable joy. He leaves behind Esther and Martin Long; Jason and Travis Yeh; Priya, Talia, Jayla, and Alaina Mayer; and Addison Mayer. His loving and playful spirit will be missed by all.

He is survived by his loving mother, Barbara Mayer. He is also survived by his siblings Susan (Dave) Jodry, Kevin (Connie) Mayer, Linda (Charles) Lawson, and Neal (Amanda) Mayer. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Mayer.

Mark found joy in farming and he worked and grew the family business for forty-two years. He had a passion for gardening, making maple syrup, playing softball, raising chickens, finding deals, riding his electric bike, giving ranger rides to his grandkids, and caring for the needs of his wife, children, family, and those he came in contact with.

Mark loved his church family and served as an elder, deacon, and on various committees for several years. He was not afraid to talk to anyone at any time, he could always spot people that were visiting for the first time. Mark used his time, energy, and abilities to invest in his church family and help in any way he could.

Mark’s kindness, his faith, and his love will continue to inspire us all. Some of Mark’s last words were “Praise the Lord”. As we grieve, we do not grieve without hope. Mark placed his faith in Jesus Christ and his earnest desire was that everyone come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Visitation will be on August 18th at Grace Community Church from 1-3 pm and 5-8 pm. A memorial service will be on August 19th at Grace Community Church at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Kosovo Leadership Academy (KLA) in Mark’s name. For many years the Mark Mayer family has partnered with a non-profit private school in the Balkans bringing quality education to a country with one of the worst public educational systems in the world. The school focuses on character training and forming the future leaders of the country.
