MARTHA ELIZABETH BARRINGTON, 92, died at 3:45 p.m. Feb. 25, 2007, at Richland Manor Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 14, 1915, in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Arza F. and Minnie E. Snyder Green, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 17, 1936, in Angola, Ind., she married George David Barrington, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Barrington was a homemaker. She had worked at Westinghouse Corp. and as an election poll worker. She was a Lima Central High School graduate. She has always been a fan of sports, spending time watching her sons play basketball, track, baseball and football. Her son Tom played for Woody Hayes at The Ohio State University and retired from the NFL after playing for the Washington Redskins and the New Orleans Saints. Her son Steve layed for Woody Hayes at The Ohio State University. Her son John played football at the University of Kentucky. She lived for more than 60 years in the same house on East High Street in Lima, where she held Bible classes for neighborhood children. She was a very strong supporter of evangelism and missions, both locally and internationally. She founded and supported the former Lima Bible Fellowship Church, later known as Grace Bible Church. She was known by her neighbors for helping anyone in need. Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Janet Barrington Mauk, of Lima; two sons, John Dey (Susan) Barrington, of Burgin, Ky., and Steve L. Barrington, of Elida; a daughter-in-law, Judye Barrington, of Columbus; and 15 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, George Thomas Barrington. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Dwight Reed will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
