Martha June (Ayers) Smith

Martha June Smith, 93, of Lima, Ohio, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 5, 2019.  Born on January 22, 1926 in Lima, she was the daughter of the late Leo V. Ayers and the late Elizabeth (Tummel) Ayers.

Martha married Jack E. Smith on June 7, 1946.  He preceded her in death in 1990.  She was a graduate of Central High School and later worked in the offices of the ArtKraft Sign Company and Shook Mosier Laundry.  She had a beautiful singing voice and was an excellent cook and devoted homemaker.  Her handwriting was exquisite.  Her hobbies included the Word Jumble, crossword puzzles, and playing Yahtzee.  She also loved the Cincinnati Reds.

Martha is survived by her four children: Nancy (Jim) Prorok, Sue Smith, Kenny Smith and Carl (Sheila) Smith; two grandchildren: Sydney (Tony) Flora and Alaina Smith; and two great grandchildren: Matthew Smith Askins and Kelani Vanessa Flora (due in two months).

Family and friends may call Friday, February 8 from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, February 9 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.  A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.   Rev. Todd Cosart will perform the service.  Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio immediately afterward.
