March 24, 1918 — March 24, 2010

Martha E. Troyer 92, died at 5:28 p.m. March 24, 2010, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. She was born August 17, 1917, in Allen County, Ohio to Charles and Anna Reese, who preceded her in death. On December 25, 1939, she married Clyde H. Troyer, who died August 18, 1985. Mrs. Troyer was a homemaker and had worked at the Lima Convalescent Home. She was an avid fan of Elida High School Bulldog?s basketball and enjoyed baseball and basketball games on television. She got a great deal of enjoyment from her pets, including her dog, Henry, and her birds. She liked playing cards, Uno and other games, but most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a member of Ridge Methodist Church. When she was 9 years old, she became a heroine when she braved the flames of a fire in her home to rescue her 2-year-old sister Alice. The same fire claimed the lives of her two brothers, a sister and her mother. Survivors include two sons, Adronis H. (Carol) Troyer, of Alhambra, California, and Philip B. (Fay) Troyer, of Kalida, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jill (Jason) Nalley, of Lima, Ohio, Jeff Troyer, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Lyndsay Troyer, of Fort Collins, Colorado; two step grandchildren, Sandra Shawver and Jonatte (Chris) Buchanan, both of Ottawa, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Reese and Thomas Reese; and two sisters, Dorothy Reese and Alice Rower. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Jane Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Pike Run Cemetery, Gomer. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 740 Commerce Drive, Suite B, Perrysburg, OH 43551.
