Martin Robert Hopkins

Martin (Marty) Robert Hopkins, 64, passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2023 at his home he shared with his loving wife Terri (Laemmle) Hopkins in Lima, Ohio.

He was born on April 4, 1959 in Cincinnati, Ohio and grew up in Defiance, Ohio. He graduated from Defiance College in 1981 with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Finance. Shortly after graduation he moved to Lima, Ohio to start working at Lima Electric. It was in Lima, he and his future wife Teresa (Terri) met on a blind date and fell in love. On November 10, 1984 he and Terri were married in Van Wert, Ohio.

Marty and Terri had two daughters, Katie and Nicki, who grew up in Lima and attended Bath Local Schools. Marty lived and worked in Lima, Ohio most of his life and supported the Lima Bath Local Schools Community as a coach, fan and donor. Most recently he worked as a Financial Advisor with Metzger Financial Services and previously at Mid Bus, Lima Electric and Marathon Electric.

He was an avid Cleveland Sports Fan supporting all Cleveland Professional Sports Teams. He was always a coach to his girls, a neighbor to many, and a friend to all. He loved to laugh and make others smile. He will be so incredibly missed.

Marty is survived by his wife, Terri Hopkins of Lima, Ohio;  two daughters, Katie (Michael) Westfall of Springfield, Ohio and Nicki (Dan) Gliot of Fishers, Indiana; a brother, Tom (Barb) Hopkins of Defiance, Ohio; Grandfather to three grandchildren, Karlson Westfall, and Rex and Hadley Gliot.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Rex and Marie (Held) Hopkins of Defiance, Ohio, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Karl and Patricia (Crouse) Laemmle of Van Wert, Ohio.

Marty's services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2023 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede in Lima, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 25 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
