Martina Gibbons

Martina E. Gibbons, 84, died at 8:55 a.m. May 9, 2008, at Springview Manor Nursing Home. She was born November 21, 1923, in Central City, Kentucky, to Alonzo C. and Mary (Purtell) Mitchell, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Gibson had worked at St. Rita?s Medical Center. She enjoyed traveling and music, and she loved her family. Survivors include a son, Don (Eunhee) Gibbons, of Atlanta; a daughter, Joyce (Dennis) Shaw, of Lima, Ohio; three grandchildren, Kaabe (Amy) Shaw, of Athens, Ohio, Phil Gibbons, of Atlanta, and Taylor Gibbons, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; and five great-grandchildren, Keegan Shaww, Maya Shaw, Keeley Shaw, Eryn Shaw, and Mackenzi Fox. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Shaw, and 13 siblings. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rose Catholic Church. Father William Rose will officiate. Private interment of the cremains will be at a later date. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita?s Hospice, 770 W.
