Marvin R. Buddelmeyer

Marvin R. Buddelmeyer, 80, of Lima, died on February 14, 2014 at 1:00 PM at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on April 6, 1933 in Avis, Ohio to Hubert and Adelia (Rechtine) Buddelmeyer, who both preceded him in death. On September 24, 1960 he married Jill Pope at St. John's Catholic Church in Glandorf, OH and she survives.

Marvin was a maintenance mechanic at BP for over 30 years and retired in 1998. After retiring he worked for Lab Corp. as a courier for over 15 years. He also served in the United States Army in Germany.

He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. He was an avid bird watcher and had been a Detroit Tigers fan since 1948. Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family especially watching his grandchildren and their sporting events. He was proud of being a member of AA and enjoyed sobriety for over 25 years.

Surviving are his son Joel (Amy) Buddelmeyer of Leesburg, OH; three daughters Jacqueline (Bob) O'Connor of Elida, OH, Elizabeth Buddelmeyer of Chicago, IL and Kimberly Buddelmeyer of Lima, OH; six grandchildren Sarah, Sam, Katie, Olivia, Mia and Ella. Also surviving is one sister Delores Pohl.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Eugene and Delbert Buddelmeyer.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home and there will be a parish wake service at 8:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Gerard Catholic Church, Lima.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima with VFW Post #1275 conducting military services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District or St. Rita's Hospital.
