Marvin Stephens, 93, passed from this life to his Heavenly home with Jesus at 1:12 a.m. on January 9, 2023, he has no more pain or suffering. He was loved by so many that knew him.
Marvin was born on June 14, 1929 in Vaughnsville, Ohio to Lawrence and Wilma (Dunlap) Stephens. On July 3, 1949 he married Alma Fay (Clevenger) Stephens who preceded him in death on June 22, 2019.
Marvin was a long-time attendee of Cable Road Alliance Church and enjoyed reading his Bible. Sunday truly was a day of rest for the Lord, and everyone will deeply miss his mealtime prayers. For many years you would find Marvin and Fay at the kitchen table in the morning reading the Bible and praying for their friends and family. He was the backbone and support system of Fay and her ministry of CEF. He really looked forward to the family tradition of Apple Butter Day. The family would gather around and make apple butter in the 100 plus year old family heirloom copper kettle. Marvin enjoyed watching sports, especially the Buckeyes. Farming was a huge part of his life, including fixing things around the farm. He worked at Ford for 30 years all while he also farmed. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his smile.
He is survived by his children, Connie (David) Adam, Barbara Sprague, and Keith (Susan) Stephens; daughter-in-law, Susan (Jack) Dyer; 14 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Alton (Carol) Stephens, Gary (Connie) Stephens, and Norma Stephens.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son Stanley Stephens; a son-in-law Mike Sprague; a great-granddaughter Marissa Jordan; a brother Wendel Stephens; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen (Emerson) Diller, and Ann (Ken) Lurz.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Cable Road Alliance Church. A funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, Cable Road Alliance Church with one hour of visitation prior. Rev. Charles DuPree and Pastor Richard Jueckstock will officiate. Burial will follow at Pike Run Cemetery, Gomer.
