Mary E. Akers Baxter, 83, died at 5:05 a.m. Jan. 9, 2008, at Triumph Hospital, Lima. She was born May 13, 1924, in Paynesville, Ky., to Thomas and Lulu Stanbaugh Akers, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Baxter retired from Ex-Cell-O/Air Foil Textron, after 33 years. Survivors include three sons, David Baxter, of Santa Cruz, Calif., Tom (Mary) Baxter, of Wapakoneta, and Richard Baxter, of New Port Richey, Fla.; a brother, Crit (Joanne) Akers, of Lima; a sister, Belva (Irvin) Lauber, of Lima; four grandchildren, Lori, Bridgette, Marc and Brad; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William C. Baxter; a brother, James Akers; and two sisters, Cleo Williams and Tommy Jean Bacon. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Mark Vernik will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
