Mary Elizabeth Betts,
81 of Lima, Ohio died on Monday, December 26, 2011, at 10:04 a.m. at Richland Manor in Bluffton, Ohio.
Born Saturday, April 12, 1930 in Vernon, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Eddie Young and the late Jewel Rheay Young.
She was employed by Wells Family Store.
Mary married Robert Betts on November 20, 1947; he preceded her in death on February 7, 2010. Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a wonderful cook and never turned down a chance for a picnic. She had a special knowledge in older movies, specifically westerns. She was known for her wonderful spaghetti. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Richland Manor for their kind and compassionate care. Also thanks to St. Rita's Hospice.
Surviving are son, Michael (Pam) Betts of Lima, OH, daughter, Pat (Robert) Bennett of Nebraska City, NE; 9 grand children, John Bennett, Christia McLain, Craig Betts, Traci Davis, Kent Betts, Eric Betts, Ryan Betts, Tim Betts and Alex Bennett; 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; a daughter-in-law Sharon (Ron) Doseck, two brothers-in-law Thomas (Vondale) Betts of Cedar Park, TX, and David (Janis) Betts of Lima, OH; a sister-in-law Penny Gerdeman of Ada, MI; a "bestest" friend of 68 years Katy Keysor; 3 dear friends, Ron Clayton, Bob Brenneman and Rick Conaway.
She was predeceased by a son, Robert D. Betts, daughter, Kathleen Betts and a great granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 30, 2011, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Rev. Troy Underhill officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, OH.
