Mary Celeste Rose Christoff, 38, died peacefully July 9, 2018 at Kobacker House Hospice in Columbus, Ohio with her family around her. Born August 16, 1979 in Fostoria, Ohio, she was the daughter of John Paul Christoff and Noreen Murphy Christoff. Her mother, Noreen, died August 28, 1992. Her father survives in Lima.
Celeste attended St. Gerard Elementary School, Lima Central Catholic and graduated in 1998 from Lima Senior High School. She worked at KMI, PPI and DTR before her illness. She was a member of St. Gerard Church.
Celeste was a strong woman who never let the obstacles life threw at her weaken her optimism, her sense of humor nor her love of life. Her strength and energy were focused on her three children whom she raised to be good, responsible, capable persons. She had the ability to light up their lives, make them laugh and appreciate life. She could meet a stranger and within minutes become friends. At the James Cancer Hospital, nurses, residents and staff members often stopped by her room just to talk with her. Young people from newborns to teenagers loved to spend time with her. She had many and loyal friends because she had an uncanny way of seeing the uniqueness of a person and affirming it.
She is survived by her son, Daneille E. Lowe, Jr.; her daughters, Mary Dominique Rose Lowe and Amarie Elizabeth Christoff, all at home. She is also survived by her sisters, Elizabeth (Richard) Hutson of Stafford,VA and Kate (Todd) Christoff Scheetz, of Cincinnati; her brother Nicholas Christoff of Rochester Hills, MI; her god-brother Ryan Raphael McDonald of Atlanta, GA; 8 nephews and nieces, Jalen Cotton, Alexis Christoff, Eric Christoff, Ian Hutson, Ava Hutson, Anna Scheetz , twins John Paul Christoff Scheetz and Thomas Ignatius Murphy Scheetz. She is also survived by her biological mother, Peggy Eisenhauer, and her biological brother DeVille Moore.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 7 PM on Thursday, July 12 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. There will be a Wake Service and Sharing of Memories at 7 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, July 13, 2018 at St. Gerard Church, Fr. Mike Sergi presiding. Burial will take place in Gethsemane Cemetery.
