Mary Cardone Schafer Cramer

Mary V. Cardone Schafer Cramer, 91, died at 6:45 p.m. November 8, 2010, at Baton Rouge Senior Health Services Community. She was born May 26, 1919, in Lima, Ohio to Gennaro J. and Christina Tullis Cardone, who preceded her in death. On July 4, 1936, she married Harold ?Squirt? Schafer, who died September 30, 1977. On January 1, 1986, she married Donald Cramer, who died May 2002. Mrs. Cramer loved playing bingo and cards, but her greatest joy was being with her family. She cherished all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and give her time to the needy. She was always there to make you laugh and put a smile on your face. Survivors include two daughters, Cecilia M. Schafer-Shope and Maria C. (Paul) Illig, both of Lima, Ohio; two sons, Fritz (Toni) Schafer, of Lima, Ohio, and Dr. Carl (Susan) Schafer, of Tiffin, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, Victoria (Kevin) Page, Gregory (Jennifer) Shope, Jeffrey (Shannon) Shope, Matthew (Elizabeth) Shope, Laura (Tom) Gabriel, Hutch (Darci) Schafer, Susan (Tim) Wagner, Angie (John) Reiff, Douglas (Tracy) Wade, Daniel Wade, Joshua Illig, Rachel Illig, Alex Schafer, Carly Schafer, Amy (Dave) Kendrick and Natalie Schafer; and 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Roman and Gennaro ?Jerry? Schafer; two sisters Rita Shortino and Mary Cardone; and five brothers, Henry Cardone, Cledo Cardone, Carmen Cardone, Roman Cardone and James Cardone. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church, Lima. Father David M. Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, were a parish wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday.
