Mary Davis

Mary E. Davis, 85, died July 5, 2010, at her residence. She was born August 4, 1924, in Hancock County, Ohio to Bowen M. and Mildred R. Crone Evans. On June 23, 1951, in Haviland she married John James Davis, who died March 14, 1973. She retired from the Lima Public Library after 25 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader. She liked gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Carol (David) Crates, of Lima, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jill (Glenn) First, of Washington, Ilinois, and Andrea (Joseph) Correll, of Normal, Illinois; two great-grandchildren, Ellie First and Ava First; and a sister, Julia Ross. She was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Danison. Services will begin at 1 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Joseph Correll will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.
