MARYMARY CATHERINE DeFINIS, 78, died at 1:28 a.m. March 7, 2006, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born Jan. 20, 1928, in Marion to Carl and Amelia Curto Stiffler, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 21, 1950, she married Hugo M. DeFinis, who died Oct. 4, 1988. Mrs. DeFinis was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, where she had been a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of the Polk Box Button Club of Ohio, the Ohio and the National Button societies, the Happy Hours Garden Club of Lima and the Allen County Historical Society. She had been a member of the Knights of Columbus Loyalty Ladies and the West Central Ohio Rock Club. Survivors include two sons, Renato C. DeFinis of Lima and Peter J. DeFinis of Cridersville; two daughters, Christina B. (Joseph Sr.) Penick of Salem and Eliza M. (Curtis) Kaehler of Wapakoneta; a sister, Thelma Gates of Dayton; 10 grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Fondi DeFinis of Lima. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Donald Stiffler; and two sisters, Dorothy Stiffler and Elsie Richards. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. The Rev. James McDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
