MARY LOUISE HALKER, 83, died at 5:45 a.m. May 18, 2006, at Lima Convalescent Home. She was born Sept. 6, 1922, in Wapakoneta to Bernard W. and Clara C. Roth Strohm Sr., who preceded her in death. On Nov. 3, 1949, she married Bernard R. Halker, who died Nov. 22, 2004. Mrs. Halker had been a nurse's aide at St. Rita's Medical Center and worked at The Leader Store and Ex-Cell-O Corp. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, where she was a member of its Altar Rosary Society and was active in several projects. She was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54 Auxiliary. Survivors include a daughter, Renee (Michael) Carson of Sylvania; two grandchildren, Samuel Carson and Sarah Carson, both of Sylvania; several nieces and nephews; three brothers, William F. Strohm and Bernard E. Strohm Jr., both of Wapakoneta, and Herman D. Strohm of Louisiana; and a sister, Emily Weber of Wapakoneta. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin David Carson. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church. The Rev. David Ritchie will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
