Mary Houtzer

Genevieve Mary Houtzer, 96, died at 6:30 a.m. March 1, 2011, at Lima Memorial Health system.
She was born July, 14, 1914, in Lima, to Edward and Jessie Harvey Hedrick, who preceded her in death. On July 6, 1935, she married Richard B. Houtzer, who died August 9, 1991.
She was preceded in death by a sister Marie C. Hedrick, a brother, Charles O. Hedrick, and a son, Terry L. Houtzer.
Mrs. Houtzer was a homemaker. She graduated from South High School in 1932. She was a member of the Lima Baptist Temple for 47 years and the Senior Citizen's New Horizons Sunday School Class. She was active in the Ladies Missionary Fellowship and a faithful Sunday School teacher in the primary department.
Everyone who knew her was touched in a special way. She was a generous and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved the Lord and enjoyed reading her Bible.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra M. (Marty) McCaslin, of Lima, Ohio, Susan K. Campbell (Steve Basinger) of Ottawa, Ohio, a son, Rick L. (Eileen) Houtzer, of Anaheim Hills, California, a daughter-in-law, Jo Ellen Houtzer of Edina, Minnesota, Seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Virginia Hedrick.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday March 5, 2011 at the Lima Baptist Temple. Pastor Gary Hohman will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday March 4, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ladies Missionary Fellowship at the Lima Baptist Temple.
