Mary Verne Parks, 91, died at 1 P.M. October 25, 2001, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
She was born June 16, 1910, in Indianapolis to the late Charles T. and Flora Alice Jordan Kissick. On September 15, 1929, she married Walter Burgner, who preceded her in death. On July 23, 1939 she married Orley L. Parks, who died February 6, 1950,
Mrs. Parks was a homemaker. She was owner and operator, along with her husband, of a filling station and restaurant and was involved with Parks-Klay Oil Co. Their business and home were located at Bellefontaine Avenue and Kibby Street, which was known as the Parks Show Ground, where Cole Brother, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circuses appeared. She had been a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Walter C. (Mary C.) Burgner Jr. of Lima; four step grandchildren, Diane L. (Robert) George of Seaford, Del., Dr. David W. (Pam) Long of Eaton, Deborah K. (Michael) Gallmeier of Delphos, and Dennis . (Lisa) Long of Bainbridge, GA.; and 13 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Katharine I. Ritzo and Caroline E. Krouse.
Graveside services will begin at noon Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Larry Hopkins will officiate.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
